I gave up on direct input from the guitar around 1997 and use only a microphone. Once in a while I check what is out here in terms of pickups, but have not found anything I like or even find acceptable. For the past few years I have been using a Shure KSM 141, which is an excellent live mic. In the studio I use a Neumann M149 through a MArtech MSS-10 pre-amp.

Hey Urusen! FRED have made a whole Brand New Song. Nice!

It's called Good One and is being release as a single on June 15th. It's full of sexy melodies and stuff.

To launch the single, there's going to be a hometown spectacular in Cork's Opera House on Sat 16th June. It's called "Fredfest 2000" and will have other great bands and DJs and trapeze and so on. Tickets are €18 and go on sale from The Opera House Box Office on (021) 4270022 or www.corkoperahouse.ie.
