My name is Jonathan and I am a lot of things. Primarily, I am a nerd.
I study political science and sociology at Memorial University of Newfoundland. I skateboard, I snowboard (very infrequently), I play bass, and I make art.
I am straight edge. No booze, no recreational drugs.
I am a politics nerd. I am a libertarian (anarcho) socialist, with a strong disdain of neoliberalism, capitalism, homophobia, racism, sexism, nationalism, war, the anti-democratic tendencies of the supposed democratic world, and anything else that results in a a controlling class and an underclass. I read Chomsky, Davis, Marx, Klein, Harvey, Gramsci, Goldman, and the like.
I am a music nerd. I think The Beatles and Nirvana were incredibly overrated and I think The Velvet Underground and Wipers were grotesquely underrated. I listen to punk, post-punk and the many derivatives thereof (hardcore, post-hardcore, indie rock, noise rock, etc.). I also love hip-hop. A lot.
I am a film nerd. I worship the ground that David Lynch walks on. I also have non-sexual man-crushes on Jean Luc Godard, Guy Maddin, Stanley Kubrick, Michel Gondry, and scores of others that I am too lazy to name.
My art is more or less a pastiche of all the artists I've admired over the years. Julien Pacaud, Max Ernst, Francis Bacon, Audrey Kawasaki, etc.
I am merely a product of those who have come before me, except not quite as good.
