SO IAM debuted on the scene in August 2002, becoming known around Arizona for his unique cadence and creative lyrics. After recording his first album at 18, he began producing and freestyling at the age of 19 and polished up his expertise quickly with his background in writing and music. Soon major and local artists were requesting his production through word of mouth. His growing talent of producing would soon catch up with his dominant skills of rapping and performing as he dedicated his life to the Lord and shunned all distractions. After spending 8 years performing under another name it was time for a new start that represented the changes going on in rapper slash producer SO IAM's life. Pronounced S-O-I-AM and standing for "Son of I Am", his genuine attitude and stage presence appeal to all crowds on and off stage. With the combined sound of artists like Jay-Z, Redman, and Kanye West, SO IAM engages his listeners with his catchy flow and signature sound. Off stage the personality compliments the work in that it is honest, hard-working, and reflects a driven individual’s hunger for more.
Most recently SO IAM has done production work for Knoc'turnal's group project MathMadix, Mike Gotti's upcoming LP Tha Truth which features appearances by DMX, Krazie Bone, and Play n Skillz, and R&B artist Perrie Cataldo's single "Can't Tell Me Your Perfect" which was featured on Phoenix's Fox 10 News. SO IAM is also featured on the rock compilation Punk Goes Crunk, which reached #86 on the Billboard 200, collaborating with RCA's Scary Kids Scaring Kids on "Notorious Thugs." SO IAM's current album S O I AM is slated release late November 2009 and features tracks such as "2 Drink Minimum" and "All Up On It". Look for this rising hip hop star to continue to shine 2009 and beyond.
