Writer Profile  Community
Influences
right now, I definitely admire Vladimir Nabokov as a writer, but I was most definitely influenced by Robert Jordan who was my first big author to read (Wheel of Time series at age 12), but i would also list Anne McCaffrey and her Pern series as a big influence, and I'm sure there are countless others I am forgetting right now that I will add later!
Tools of the trade
I tend to go back and forth between writing on paper and writing on the computer, depending on what I'm writing. More serious pieces tend to get written on paper and then transferred to the computer (serving as the second rough draft), while things I do for fun basically get typed up on the computer and are lucky if they get a second read-through. I like using pens on paper, and when I write on the computer I tend to use either notepad or Microsoft Word, depending on what I'm writing.
Writings
I write lots of things, mainly fiction which I'm sorting into different folders. You'll notice that one character has his own folder, but that's because I basically adore him...perhaps due to the fact that I have more freedom with him than any other character.
Miscellany  Word
Although I like to work on my own things, I can also be found in various online writing groups scattered across the web -- I used to write through mail groups, then through Yahoo clubs/groups, then I wrote at greatestjournal, and most recently I have moved on to message board-based writing groups, which is where I'm floating now.

The main things I'll put up here are probably random drabbles that I use as a way to alleviate my boredom and writer's blocks when the writing groups are moving slowly. Feel free to peruse as you want, but know that I do primarily write fiction, although the urge to write opinion pieces does strike me every now and then.
Updates  Word
I'm mainly working on adding all of my old writings now! It's a bit of work, going through it all and finding what I want to put up and what I don't, but bear with me and it'll be done soon! ...If I don't lose interest. Damn the fickleness of mind! Does anyone know of a herbal cure for that problem? *grin*
Disclaimers/Warnings  Word
Everything I write belongs to me and is my creative property unless specifically stated otherwise. Consider yourself forewarned that I am not afraid of the easily squickable topics and have been known to exercise my creative and writing ability by stretching my imagination to places I personally haven't gone before and might never want to go. That said, I do write things that I would show my kid brother, but there are some things that you should please proceed into with an open mind -- heed the notes before the story starts! They're there for a reason. I'm not going to have anything with graphic sexual content, but some of the subject matter might not be suitable for all ages (I don't know, depending on what you consider suitable for all ages?).
Featured Text  Word
A soft wind was blowing down the mountainous range to the vast, sprawling desert, sending flicks of sand spiraling through the air and into the various folds created in his clothes when he knelt down. Tyl's fingers desperately searched through the sand, his eyes opened wide as if that would help him see more or maybe because he thought that would keep them open. Being in the desert always made his eyes dry, because of the sand constantly being flung into his face and the general lack of moisture in the air, and he hated it. His human body was much weaker than his dragon one, he surmised as he plopped down onto the soft, shifting sand. Sometimes, he thought it would be nice to stay that way permanently, but then he remembered that he wouldn't be able to see his mother very much because she had to stay inside a great deal of the time. That was what kept him from up and running to the vast caverns of the mountains and joining the dragons there -- that's what he told himself, anyway. He wasn't really sure if he'd ever do it or not, but it was a nice thought. Maybe, he thought, as he watched his fingers play in the fine sand, after his mother died, that's what he'd do.
