this bit of art came out of a guy posting as 'out out' on the forums at www.side-line.com

So anyhow, like I was saying. If people basically bought what they liked and kept, we wouldn't be arguing about this. They don't, and we are.
So anyone reading this: even if you think you're not causing any harm by using P2P but buying a lot of stuff, rememeber that A) P2P sites make money. On the backs of the "free" stuff they help distribute, either via ads or subscription(!) fees. B) Even if you don't turn around and "share" the "previews" you download, thus ending the chain with you, you're still able to get said "previews" because someone took it upon themselves to violate someone else's rights and uploaded their material without their permission. After which, and here's the critical part, anyone can simple take it "for free" for whatever reasons they find, infinitely and anonymously. And for the umpteenth freakin' time, most people who do so do so to avoid paying for something that they want to possess. I don't see how that can be any more clear. That is supporting a system that is used overwhelmingly to steal. Can we be done with debating this now? P2P is principally to steal, nothing more.

i couldent have put it better myself.

another fleeting update

lumierre, again, taking the main focus on this post, is still in a state of flux.
they have done absolutly everything to that site they can withought committing to construction. the land is cleared the piles are drilled and now its just locked up.
i would me more narked about that but i have been made redundant
i just need to sit down and cast some serious thought to getting somthing afterword. luckelly, i have a few offers alredy, but one is abovemy skill level one is only a 'go to this agencey and say i sent you' and the other is 'ill write you a refrence and have a word with the IT team in west bank' so i donot have high hopes for any of them.

dawn will be pottering about leeds for a while this weekend, it will be my job to track her down and get lunch. Talking with dawn is allways good for the coreline stuff, she talked me into making a proper go of PKMF and that really has brought me into the 'professional' end of the 'market' arse first.

electroavoustics and misery

6/1/2007 at 5:53 AM

this job.
numbing.

i kind of like the squirming feeling inside of working for a cooperation which dosent co-operate, theres all the traditional buck passing, the blaiming other departments, the other departments not having a clue what we do. Its easy to duck all the work in the world.

i cant be come complacent, i cant 'enjoy' it, i must work hard to escape it. i need to learn vb.net and i need to do it with conviction, i need to escape the comfort zone and i need above all else to 'keep moving forward'.

i want to put out a cd of electroacoustic stuff, id like to put it out on an electroacoustic / glitch / idm label, still under the coreline name, but all my work so far on the clicks and beeps. Im working on a 10 minute track to get me back into the swing of composition, once i have done that, i have a triumverate of tracks layed out redy to be Cerridwen's Wheel, my first proper sacred work. im really looking forward to having it finished. im not sure how much im going to enjoy doing it.

i wonder if ad noisiem would take it?

i cant be arsed self reliesing it, i have enough to promote with the mainline coreline experience.

DJ Distant
DJ Technoshamen

in the unlikley event that any of you lot want to come its on the 23 june at DKDance in Moscow. let me know if our flying in, ill have to buy carbon offsets to cover the possey carbon.

in slightly self refernetial news, thay have broken ground at Lumiere, taken up all the concrete, there shipping it out today it would seem, i saw a few trucks and diggers clusterrd in the site, seemingly getting redy to clear out the old. Still no idea what there doing next door, must be some sort of infastructure project as its taking for fucking ever. Meanwhile they are clearing the land for Green Bank and Latitude, so my fair home is about to be transformed into a reet building site. S'gonna look ace when its done.

i need to focus more on music and coding, i *must* get this new job, its damn essential, almsot as crutial as getting onto the HND from A2, a goal i set myself a long while back and arguably the first real step on my journey away from victum and toward the shining hights of international noise superstar DJ god. This new job will let me travell, moove cities maby even countries, travell, explore, all sorts.

Spent this morning working on new coreline tracks, i have two really ace choons for the new album 'coreline builds better robots' and 'this is industrial baroque' as you can guess, not quite as serious as last time round but im sure ill have some pretenshous twoddell to pack the album full with. The music itself is well ace, Industrial Baroque could well be 'the' track on the new album.

Actual sarcastic troll explosion

5/15/2007 at 9:48 AM

Yah, I put a new track up here not that anyone views this page or reeds these words I don’t thnk that’s really the point of it all, at least here there is a chance someone will fall upon my work and, in the current debarkle its good to know that this place exists.

Free paris Hilton may have been a bit too sarcastic, I have certainly been critisised for offering support to her, but what I wanted to achieve was a gap weher the listener could go, 'this is all so ridiculous, here we stand 7000 years into our civilisation, on the cusp of destroying the habitability of our planet and people are polarised by the antics of an upperclass socialite, theres no reason for all this fuss, we need to get back to reduce reuse recycle..

*sigh*

I smell bad today; I need some motivation to take better care of my body. If my body is a temple it certainly hasn't made the grade for World Heratige status, cource that’s nothing but a good thing as I would like people to be able to see and interact with me tather then being locked in as guilded field for eternity.
I just caught myself spell checking this…whats the point? *le sigh*

I need to go back to wurope soon and be a star, I need to write more coreline stuff I need to finish this damn re-sit essay.
But its not all bad news.
I went to Hippy Potter Moose at lunch and bought a book on druidrey, its from another ex arch-druid, previous offerings from these folks have been nothing short of a good reed and I need a little tree hugging hippy stuff to keep me sane at work these days, it’s a new thing. And I like books it’s the one category of 'thing' im not trying to get shot of.

Summer cleaning is in order, I want to fill a binbag with 'crap im getting rid of' may do that when I get home.

Microsoft Visual Basic .NET 2006 Platinum Express trial Edition 7 Turbo Extra 2 revision 3 SP1 European Language Support Enabled Space.

5/11/2007 at 9:28 AM

Im learning Microsoft Visual Basic .NET, for a possible new job. So far, one day in, my opinion is devided.

On one hand my experience with the older visual basic has been rendered compleetley obsolete, the straightforward no nonsence proceadural glory of it has been all but totally sacrificed in favour of a much more 'java' language. Everything is an object and everything takes microsofts traditional approach, knowen as the 'yez I know 99% of the industry call it a string, but they don’t matter so were going to call it a customer happy memory fun slot' effect. Theres also a lot of weird keywords which 'reed a bit like english' but if you use them out of context fall over cluthching their knees screeming something in brizzilian.

On the other hand, it reeks of the javascript I alredy know in that window.box.bleep("hello") will do stuff, I guess I think that’s what object orientation is, and its well convienant when it works. And you can.do.lots += of.stuff (in.one.statment) lalalalalaaa, its that efficencey which allowed me to write the coreline.net navigation scripts in three lines. That’s the kind of thing wot makes coders hawht.

One bugbare I have encountered is floating point numbers need to be declared like: Dim sglMyVariable As Single = 1.234F .... wtf is with that suffix f, surley the fact its declared as:
a) a single
b) has a gord darhn decimal point in it
is enough for the compiler to say 'gee, that’s a float that is' there also seems to be some form of use of the period as a kind of surrigate ; or {}

I don’t quite get it all, but then its only day one, its quirks will be revieled in time.

glooooooooooooooob :/

5/1/2007 at 10:26 AM

thank bob im off on lunch soon, i have angrey head after being handed a thing to do which involves calculating my team action coefficent. my new EP will go on sale this evening once i have the artwork and 'freemixes'* uploaded, ill probably stick the info goo on here or maby last.fm, damn my website being borked.

dark city has mooved to a venue i frequented meny years ago when i was larping in the fair city, this is good as i know the stage (having stabbed somone on it!) its bad because there is no 'green room' so the costume requirements may be squewey. Also to make matters worse, im on first so ill more then likley be playing to an empty or sober room, neither of which are good for 'high science' anyway ill soldier on, complaining bitterly at all possible oppertunites. Thats the way i roll. :P

meanwhile i am compleetly unprepaired for the concert tonight, im not in the mood i havent herd the piece in ages, i dont feel well, i am unshaven and generally bla. im not crusing for sympathy, if i were i would post this on a blog people reed, but, jimminy jellekers, blahgh. I have a evening, an evening! wednesday evening to be precice, to sort this set out, and i need to get my very special end of set song sorted by then *arg* not to mention tidying up the remainder of the songs and relieseing the ep.

aoooooo!

*like what i did there? eh?

off to germany

4/27/2007 at 2:38 AM

goodey! im off to forms of hands now (http://www.formsofhands.de) im going to dance myself goodlooking then hopefully find some adoring groupies to saciate my superstar dj lust.

i have to fly tho
im well narked heres me trying to be ecological and im flying like three times this year. *anger* still come may ill offset the lot of em and more and then moove to my ecovillage in the forrest*
im at a bloddy weding for live earth. barstuerds! right , train, plane, car, then BLEEP!

*this may not actually happen

bleep ^_^

4/3/2007 at 5:31 AM

bleep setlist below, meanwhile a bit of a rant of sorts.

I want to pick up tai chi again, i miss it, chatting to jake and nicole about ninja arse kicking, i want to be part of those diciplins again, the school i was studying was a bit 'martial artsey' ven under the banner of taoism and the helth arts, i want pure tai chi, the supreme ultimate, the dynamic meditation, thats what im after, if some chaves want to kick the shit out of me, i shant raise a fist or thought to them. thus is the ride.

i am happy to report that the line between faith, environmental conshiousisness and helthy eating is becomming increasingley blurred, im pritty much on an exclusivally organic diet, though a slightly less helthy one. most of my fruit and veg is now sourced from within the uk which is a start, the end, of cource is self sufficent, locally growen food, from my eco-village in the middle of nowhere.

spring is really just about to be springing.

3/27/2007 at 8:51 AM

yeah, so wackey weekend. ood monday, i dont feel 100%, basically im about to loose a lot of friends ive been drifting appart from for some time, this would be more dissipointing but i know they will be just as fine withought me, i can make some new friends eventually and in the meantime ill knuckle down to the masters and more coreline.

Im not much of a civic comentator, but the calm surrounding the wastland which will eventually be Lumiere, (the cities skyscripaer) seems to be becoming a bit of a nexus for unease, there is a segrated area, what will be the bulding site, through the tempory walls and giant pictures of what will come there is a wasteland, detritus from the west point monstrosity, no test boars, nothing, what few square metres remaning which arnt littered with debris and the ghost of a delapidated bulding site are used as some sort of executave car park for the few dosen planning execs who have keys. All of the buzz about this place, seems totally virtual, abstract, planning approved, money changes hands, pictures and simulations, nothing solid, like citerion place, due to break ground in 2005, its still a car-park. i look forward to the civic sigh of relief when they start building there, then we can get excited. I guess its a moment in history, ill look at leeds before i moove on from this world, it will be a vertical metropolis, but at the moment, its just a car-park.

were on the very cusp of spring, starters orders, cold and fresh, everything just waiting from the final word... i wish i could go and visit golden acre park during the chorus, i remember seeing it where i grew up, just one morning wakeing up to a sea of green, i pray i can see it meny meny more times.

moved forward got lost asked directions

3/23/2007 at 10:49 AM

ive had a really plesent morning so far, its only me and nicole in and nicole bought me butties because a) she has got her bonus and helt sorry that i dont get one, therefore she bought me a bacon and egg butty b) she SO wants me. Calls have been low, the sun is shineing, theres a fresh layer of blog on the internet, outside smells lovley but the inside smells ok. I have a fun weekend planned, im in credit, i know where my next meal is coming from. Life is good.

Im going out on two counts tonight, so i need to sprint home, shower, change, shave, pack stock for jillies, then run to the trainstation to meet my dinner date, dinner with the doctor is allways fun, hopefully she will put pay to my fears about the masters.

The bloddy Mbox happened last night. and by 'happened' i mean 'stoped working' its a software fault so im doing a re-install but i have like a billion updates to run *sigh* i shant squander the weelend on FFXII, however, i am really enjoying it at the moment, so its not really squandering, its like reeding a good book with ocasional battles, which themselves are quite calming as the new combat system allows a good ammount of 'macro-managment', sitting back and letting the battle play out, adapting to unexpected tactics from the other player.

more poitless ranting wot no one reeds.

bebo can burn in the vamillion hells.

good things about bebo: its UK centric, its slightly better then myspace
bad things about bebo: every fucking thing else.

seriousley, i feel bad swaring on that thing, its designed and built for children, its horrid, it reeks of new labour, political correctness, polished corners, if it was a building it would be the melinium dome, pritty to look at but so rediculously usless and expensive, like a singularity of folly. I can forgive america for myspace, its an engine, a medium. Bebo has taken a pure concept (badley executed) and turned it into a shadow of a shadow of usfulness. its like sony trying to author viral marketing, it crosses the line between friendleyness and smugness, informitive vs arrogence, its kitch pop culture refrences 'ch ch changes' werein they would be more then welcome on trig or humble voice are horrid gray abstractions, like the whole thing has been decided in a board room filled with 20 sonmthing southerners who have spent their entire lives revising for there business studies exam, people who dont dance, people who dont listen to music, people who stay in to watch the football because they dont like crowds. people who buy whole rooms out of the ikea cataloug, then try and find the accessories to plug nto them to make them look 'catalouge perfect'... that word 'catalouge perfect' is a nice one for bebo, bebo should be a word on its own, i would define it as the result of somone whithought natural imigination trying to create somthing special.

now i am well aware that i couldent do any better, and i know a lot of people have done a lot of work to make that site what it is, and i respect and fear them, this is my *oppion* of bebo, its critical, because my reaction to bebo was... extreem... ill use it because i am a dirty social networking whore, i need to keep coreline near the surface of the digital thinkbox, thus i spend most of my nights clicking refresh, insteed of making music, cooking or at the very very least, playing vidio games.

just a word

3/13/2007 at 2:40 PM

people who use non-words such as 'funusual' in advertising materials when what they really mean is 'tackey shite' will be the first up agenst the wall when the revolution comes.

buy my things! their well secksey!

3/8/2007 at 7:49 AM

TSHIRTS!!!!! Whoooop!
They arrived last nightm just after I did. You can see pictures of them on http://crm.livejournal.com if you want one drop me a messege here or on the livejournal and I will put one ascide for you… they cost a tener and come in t-shirt sizes, I also have a few skinneyfits, but there going to go like hotcakes. The designs were put together by the ever awesome Dene of super evil design fame, who is the besteststst graphic designer, you can see him on my friends list :P.
The rubbish scene queen goth in me is really looking forward to seeing people walking aboot with my name on them… yeah, im easily excitable, obnoxious, and pretenshous but I meen well and I hope no one thinks too ill of me.

I spent most of last night fucking about with trig.com, the live set and other bits and bobs, hopefully, tonight I can get some more work done on the pending tracks im working at… I need to finish em up and get em sent off, I have remixes I want to get done! And revisions and all sorts.

Work is alright. Half day today so back home for a bit of a disco nap than some serious coreline work / guardining / shopping / walking yum! Dayage! :D

social networking....

3/7/2007 at 8:35 AM

here for my own amusement is a list of social networking systems coreline appears on, in decending order of popularity with punters:

Crm.livejournal.com – your reeding it! Basicly a moaning forum for right up to the moment info and some emo ranting when I get bored.

www.myspace.com/coreline - Utterly usless webdesign and implementation, this site makes me cry.

last.fm/user/coreline and last.fm/music/coreline – the only thing I don’t like about this site is the lack of artist/user integration, apart from that its perfect!.

http://www.humblevoice.com/coreline - beautiful web 2.0 thing, still in beta but well stable.

www.trig.com/coreline - new! on a par with humblevoice

www.tribe.net/coreline - not quite a shit hot in the coding department… better then myspace

http://www.broadjam.com/coreline - payed for social networking site, I got a year free with digidesign, some bits of it are loveley, but it seems a bit dead.

www.garageband.com/artist/coreline - put this on ages ago to do some preliminary promotion for coreline, I should use this more often.

yay... or not.

Well.. productive morning, I swiched myself onto a 10-6 as im working at college tonight and I cant be arsed doinf fuck all for an hour in town, its just not enough time to get home, do something useful and get back to college in time.

I got the new version of ableton live, its about the same as the old version of ableton live, so basically, I had to pay £150 because I changed my compuer Criminal? No, annoying? Yes. I have access to a few new effects but im rapidly running out of knobs to effect them with :S should make for a fun-filled live show if I can get the new tracks sequenced on time… i think I may have a bussey week ahead, lorks.

On the plus side I sent off 3845857 e-mails this morning about the two upcoming gigs in edinburg and Belfast, and hopefully, a few more in Europe later this year, hopefully the new material will go down well, I need to write some more of it. The Belfast itenary is sorted now and the whole trip is costing me in the region of £500 to put on, I doubt ill make much of this back, well ill make the £50 appearance fee back.

This job is driving me nuts, I want to go on a walk. I want to see wales, I want to live in Scotland or somewhere far away from things, I want to grow my own food and wake up with the sunrise. This call centre rut is depressing me so much. Humin civilitation is beyond help

Well, that was the week wot were.
Jillies on Friday was a late start, but its good to havea, chat with Richard on the way up and down though im sure he is sick to the teeth of me moaning about music. I could really do with doing less moaning about music, speeking about moaning about music, I got three new CD's this weekend, the infakted promo sampler which im chuffed about getting a promo form infakted, even if it is second hand it makes me feel well important. I got another cd by some guy with the second name of wax the cd is called waxworx, apparently its well bleep, ill listen to it when I have a moment. Finally, I got another infakted artist's promo disk, the name escapes me, ill listen to it some day.

Jillies was a laugh, a bit thin on people I know, but its man-chast-a isn’t it. I need to meet new friends, im drifting away from my larp mates which is a shame as some of them were very treasured people who I really loved, others were predatory, testosterone driven, hypocratical bastards whom I wont miss. Larping this year will be aquard. Unless I have an absolute total dimond of a time, I wont be going back, I need to move on.

The NI gig is going to cost £500, a gig in eutope was recently costed at £200. what on earth am I doing paying so much to play a musical backwater, home to a million billion shit indi bands moaning about how hopless their existances are? The oppression of the palce will get to me.
I had better be off to sort out the ferr tickets. *arg* Monday can foad,

sledge hammea!

i sent off three new tracks for copywright, they looked really good, slimline case with a little printed b+w title and a business card subtly taped to the inside, proper silver-silver CDR aswell, cheep as chips got 100 of them for £20, Anyway, the new stuff was kind of a kick in the ass for all the 'active' and 'pending master' tracks on ninemadens, hypothetically i have five or six tracks 'redy to go'.
Sound wise i think i was most suprised by 'Earth Can No Longer', which was a prototype for amen derivitive breakcore, it worked really well, sullied slightly as my recording of the amen is a rather shoddy student re-recording, great drum presision but pap sound quality. Anyway, the overall result is a wee bit caustic, not as in the west cost usa band, but as in the adjictive for somthing which can eat through the hull of a supertanker in 12 seconds.
Feyborn was the other point of note, being a failed experiment in a hybred electro acoustic industrial noise compositional methodology experiment, with a little beefing up it was a perfect example of what i can do with soundloom, a synthline and some free time.
I bet none of you will be interested in this, but shoot, when have blogs been intresting :P

heloooo...

yeah, so, typing this in the profile edit page is a bit jaring. maby somone should implement a 'is this user logged in? is he the profile owner' eh? yeah? then give him a 'add new' button for his blog' function, all the kids will love it...

also, i cant change the name of the page so unless i can be bothered porting the infrastructure over to a fresh page it will be forever knowen as 'photos'... though a safer bet is that i will actually learn where the rename page button is... i bet its somwhere really ergonomic... ill kick myself...
