Brennen's eclectic guitar work draws inspiration from sources as diverse as Wes Montgomery, Albert King, Marc Ribot, and Merle Travis. His lyrics draw from his experiences and childhood in the Deep South, reminiscient of the Southern Gothic tales of Flannery O'Connor and Faulkner.
