well honestly, the best christmas carols i've ever heard.
they belong to a tribe from up the mountains and they sing in their native dialect.
a dialect i don't understand... but the reason why they come down is perfectly clear to me.
you only see them once a year... only during the christmas season.
they go from house to house to sing their own version of christmas carols.
people wait for them... well, my father-in-law speaks highly of them... and i see why.
though i don't understand them, i know that they sing from their hearts.
the donations they get from the townspeople will last for a year...
or at least they'll have to make it last for a year.
they ask for coffee, sugar, batteries, used clothes... well, mostly basic necessities.
if somebody gives them money, they'll still buy only those that will keep them alive...
alive for another year. this group sings for the entire tribe...
the sacrifices they do give hope and life to their declining population.
after the recent typhoon, i wonder how they're doing now...
i hope and pray that they're just fine and i sure do hope to see them again... one of these days.
