What are PowerPoint Presentations ?

Some friends have wrote to me to ask me what exactly are PowerPoint Presentations... and what do they have to to with art ?

PowerPoint is a Microsoft software conceived to create slideshows. It is currently used in the business world for presenting on screen flow charts, tables, diagrams and many more.

I started using such software to create artistic slideshows in 2005.
A slideshow (better known as a PPT presentation or a diaporama) contains slides to which I add images and text animations, complex transitions and music, converted with another software from mp3 to wave.

The images can be photos, artwork, digital artwork, paintings, etc.

When creating a presentation, I am usually inspired by music or a powerful text or beautiful poem I want to illustrate.

Slide by slide, I choose the image. Since it will be the slide background, I can use Photoshop, PaintProShop, PhotoFiltre and add effects.
Each slide is worked on separately. Text can be added. Then animations can be added to the image and/or the text.

Transition between each slide has to be chosen in function of the final result I am looking for.
Finally, I schedule in advance minutes and seconds for each slide and test it until I obtain a complete harmony between images, text and music and come up with a completed creation which you can view as a slideshow.

Since we cannot upload PowerPoint presentations on this site and since I have created more than 80 artistic slideshows in the last year,
I have chosen to purchase some very specialized software to convert my slideshows into videos in order to give HB members and friends a slight idea of what is a PPT presentation.

As I wrote before, transitions, animations and many effects are not apparent or are quite simplified but at least it gives an idea of what I created in the last 15 months.

Hope this helps you understanding this kind of creation and I wish you will appreciate some of the converted slideshows uploaded on HV.

I've converted a few into videos. Well... transitions, animations and some effects are not apparent or are quite simplified but at least it gives an idea of what I mostly like to create. Feel free to watch and comment. Thanks ! :-)

September 11th - Community and friends...

I am usually kind and very sensitive. And soft. A smooth person. Someone who hates drama.
But tonight I am astonished by the coldness of some members... and it makes me feel sad and lonely.
"Community" and "Friend" are not only words. They mean sharing, caring, encouraging, forwarding information...

Check out my events calender... in august and september, only 2 events posted on that calender concerned my own selfish self.

The rest is sharing. Sharing music, photography, art, words... that I found worth beeing discovered and I took a few minutes to post.

We all shout that we want peace on this planet.
But we can't even care about someone we have added to our "friends" and visit her or his page from time to time...

Don't you think this is sad ?

Wow ! In less than 2 days, more than 100 members or visitors added a pin to the world map I've added to my page !

This is great and shows us that some people do care. Many do want to exceed borders... in every sense.

I've added to my first page a world map and you are invited to join , as a member of HV, a friend, or an anonymous visitor of this page.

When you press on "Join" and you add yourself, a pin of where you are located in the world will appear on the map.
Don't worry... no other information about you can be visible, no name, no pseudo, no avatar, not even your IP address.

This is just a way of sharing... viewing how close we can be even if we think we are so far away from each other.

Wow !!! The admin already uploaded my PowerPoint presentations converted into videos !
I hope my new friends will take the time to watch and comment. I am soooo happy and nervous at the same time !
The original transitions, animations and special effects cannot be correctly converted... but at least I can show some of my stuff.

August 28th - Well... I converted a few PowerPoint Presentations...

Yeah ! I've purchased a converter and made a few videos of some of my PowerPoint presentations. Hard work !!!
And even at a high price, such software does not keep the original transitions, animations and special effects.
And the files are so heavy, you can't send them to friends by email !!!

Thats my way of sharing my kind of art with HV friends and community. Now... we'll see how you find them !!! :-)))

August 25th - Pffff...... Can't upload PowerPoint Presentations...

Arggggggghhhh it seems the only way I can show some of my 85 PowerPoint Presentations to my friends and the rest of HV is to convert them into videos. And for that I need a good converter... or I'll loose on the quality of the images and transition effects. I've been up all night to find such software... I tried 5 of them ! No good. And the one that's not so bad is so expensive... it's a shame. Patience... I need patience. Or help. ;-)

I'll keep it simple. I like this site very much and I feel welcomed by many nice persons. I am no art pro but I am discovering very talented people and very beautiful work. I am happy I found this place browsing the Net. Montreal can be very lonely.
