How do you live without a job? .....
Unless like you're born rich or you're supported by someone LOL
I'd much rather have a job :] I dunt like feeling bored or having nothing to do.. Oh, and I should probably be saving up a bit for college. LOL

Weekend was good :D
This one will be slightly better!

Trust me, I know what you mean. It's only been sunny during the week here. EVERY weekend it's been raining cats and dogs and sometimes pterydactyls.

Off to Seattle again...

6/14/2007 at 11:06 PM

Oh man.
Great news!
I got accepted to a small artists collective over in Seattle! And the real kicker is, the girls who run it are, in a nutshell, totally rad, PLUS the collective is based in the Pike Place Market. One of my favorite places in the world.
I just found this out today, so I'm still over the top excited. It seems like I've been applying to shows and residencies and grants to no avail lately. I really, really needed this morale booster.
I'm beginning to realize that there are a whole lot of people out there who don't believe what I do is truly art. Which is sometimes painful. I remember at my B.F.A. show, someone tried to burn me by writing this in my guest book..
" We go to collage for this?"
Which, until I deciphered the writing, made me want to cry ( I know, I know, you're not supposed to take it personally, but how can you not be emotionally attached to your artwork? Anyways.)
Yeah, the idiot wrote collage, instead of college, which is two times funnier because that's what I do, I collage.
HA! That made me feel a lot better.
But any who, I'm headed over to the Seattle area to drop off my artworks for a solo show with the collective, and to see my dear ol' dad! It's been about two years since I've been home for father's day, so this will be a real treat.
So if I don't respond to any internet messaging, that's why. The computer at my parents' place is ridiculously slow. Too slow for my patience. I'll write all about the trip when I get back.
Adios!

The perks of cave dwelling...

As the weather dips and spikes in the oh, so wonderful Palouse region, I can’t help but be thankful for my new, temperate abode.

At my old place, up in apartment-ville, I felt like I may have been melting. Eating five Popsicles a day and laying on the floor in my swimsuit, wishing I hadn’t finsihed off the bucket of margarita the day before. ( Which actually wasn’t all that bad, taking into consideration my sincere love for popsicles.)

But here, the apartment is half underground, and almost always in the shade. It hasn’t gotten unbearable yet. And even if it does, the city’s outdoor pool is literally right across the street! I’m beginning to think living in the bottom half of a house has its perks. Even if the upstairs neighbor feels its necessary to vacuum at 7 am, in high heels.

I really wish I was joking about the high heels.

The summer has been great so far. Got the internet hooked up, and am now tackling the Adobe frontier. I’ve made it a personal goal to understand, then master Illustrator, as well as Photoshop. Ooh. And maybe re-design my site, so it actually reflects my personality. I tend to think I’m a bit more messy than all this pristine white and straight lines. But it looks awfully professional and nice, so I just can’t decide.

On the agenda tomorrow is the Moscow Farmer’s Market, and a long, long endurance building bike ride out into the land that time forgot. A.K.A., rural Idaho. Yikes.

I’m bringing plenty of food, water, my boyfriend, mace, and maybe a rifle. I don’t know. Wish me luck. You never know what you’ll find out in those woods. Case in point, Andy encountered an angry family of badgers yesterday out there, and I’ve never seen a badger, much less an angry one, but that doesn’t mean a pack of them wouldn’t scare the hell out of me.

I’m hoping the mace will protect me from the badgers.
